Project Rebuild 5th Annual Graduation and Vendor Fair
Project Rebuild would like to invite vendors to take part in our upcoming Graduation and Vendor Fair. The goal of this event is to ensure that our students have something to do over the summer and also help connect our parents with resources in our community. A little about Project Rebuild (PRB); PRB is a 90-day Truancy Intervention and Prevention solution founded by Gary City Court’s Pro-Tem Judge Inga Lewis-Shannon in 2012. It was created to reduce the growing problem of chronic truancy in the City of Gary. It became evident to Judge Shannon that the growing juvenile crime occurring in the city during school hours was indeed a truancy issue, and she wanted to do something expeditiously to address this cause.
Project Rebuild Foundation (PRBF), a collaborative of the Gary City Court, the Gary Police Department, the Lake County Prosecutor’s office, Indiana Parenting Institute (IPI), and Clark Road Genesis Family Center (CRGFC) is the result. PRBF’s goal is to eradicate truancy by utilizing the legal system to direct both the young adults and their parents to the services needed to help them overcome their current life obstacles and enable them to excel.
